Title: Searches for Higgs Bosons Produced in the ATLAS Detector
Abstract: The Higgs boson was discovered nearly 15 years ago, why are we still looking for it and how do we measure it? This talk will cover searches for Higgs bosons in the ATLAS detector using proton-proton collision data delivered by the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at the European Center for Nuclear Research (CERN). It will summarize what the community knows so far of Higgs physics and what surprises could still be lurking. Special attention will be paid to the statistical analysis methods by which Standard Model measurements are performed. A case study of a typical Higgs search will be presented, which measures the rate of vector boson fusion Higgs production in association with a high energy photon in the b-quark decay channel using Run 2 (2015-2018) ATLAS data.
