Physics Ph.D. Student Liam Frank Named ASCENDr Fellow
Congratulations to Liam Frank, a fifth-year Ph.D. candidate in Physics, who has been selected as a recipient of the Advancing STEM Careers through Education, Networking and Development + Research (ASCENDr) Fellowship.
The ASCENDr Fellowship, administered through the Alliance of Hispanic-Serving Research Universities (HSRU), supports doctoral students pursuing research and professional development opportunities related to national security. As part of the award, fellows receive funding to advance their academic and career goals.
Working with faculty mentors Dr. Jason Jones and Dr. Mark Philips, Liam's research focuses on developing specialized semiconductor laser systems for precision spectroscopy and advancing optical atomic clock technologies. His ASCENDr project explores applications that could improve satellite synchronization and navigation systems.
Liam was recently featured by the University of Arizona Graduate Center alongside fellow ASCENDr recipient McKenna Dunmeyer. Read the full story: One Fellowship, Two students.
