Rachel Hyneman Appointed Next US ATLAS Deputy Physics Support Manager

Rachel Hyneman, Assistant Professor of Physics, University of Arizona, has been appointed as the next US ATLAS Deputy Physics Support Manager, a national leadership role within the U.S. Collaboration for the ATLAS Experiment at CERN. Her appointment was officially announced on July 8, 2026, following a selection process conducted by a search committee appointed by the US ATLAS Institutional Board.
 
Beginning September 1, 2026, Rachel Hyneman will serve a two-year term as Deputy Physics Support Manager, followed by a two-year term as Physics Support Manager. US ATLAS Physics Support provides essential resources and services for researchers and students across the collaboration, including analysis tools, computing infrastructure, training programs, and educational initiatives. The Physics Support Manager and Deputy also serve on the US ATLAS Management Board.
 
This appointment recognizes Rachel Hyneman's leadership and contributions to the ATLAS experiment and positions her to help shape programs that support researchers and students across the U.S. particle physics community. The Department of Physics congratulates Rachel on this significant achievement and looks forward to her continued impact in this important national leadership role.
